By The HinduThe North Carolina legislature has voted to put on hold legislation that would have required the state to host the 2020 Olympics.
North Carolina, which was once a haven for world-class athletes, was left without an Olympic team in 2010.
Its only other event since then has been a state track meet.
The bill, which has failed to pass, was meant to make sure the state would be able to host a sporting event, but the North Carolina Senate failed to override Gov.
Roy Cooper’s veto of the legislation last week.
The state was already in the midst of a budget crisis that saw the state lose its only professional sports team.
The Tar Heels had been looking to sell the team and move into an indoor facility.
